Workshops - Developing the Protocol

Development and updates to the Base of the Pyramid Protocol are accomplished via annual workshops involving a diverse group of organizations and individuals. The first Protocol workshop was in October of 2004, and the second was in October of 2005. If you're interested in being involved in future developments of the Protocol, please contact us.

2004 BoP Protocol Workshop

The first version of the Base of the Pyramid Protocol is a result of a diverse group of organizations and individuals who first came together in October of 2004 for an intense 4 day workshop at the Wingspread Conference Center in Racine, Wisconsin. The group drew representatives from MNCs, NGOs, and universities as well as established social enterpreneurs in the Base of the Pyramid. The resulting document, Base of the Pyramid Protocol v1.0, was used by the Kenya Pilot team the following year.

2005 BoP Protocol Workshop

In October of 2005 a new group convened to take the lessons of the Kenya Pilot and integrate them into an update of the Protocol. The update will provide further clarifications and a few sections, including the development of a Field Guide, which will include more detailed tools and lessons from the Kenya pilot, as well as anecdotes for the on-the-ground portion of a Protocol project.
